Because your success on social media requires consistent engagement, this episode of 5 Business Rules covers five easy ways to get your audience talking. Watch the video or read on for the tips.
#1 Use visuals
Study after study shows that content with visuals gets better engagement. Visuals can catch a user’s eye, and give you a fighting chance to not only get your content seen, but also shared.
Don’t know where to get good visuals? Here are three ideas:
- Use your own unique photos
- Pull from a high quality stock site like Death to Stock
- Use a free tool like Canva to create unique graphics
#2 Say thank you
Remember the power of gratitude.
A study from WebPageFX found that when you say thank you for retweets:
- 1 in 4 people will follow you back
- 26% favorite the tweet
- 30% of people replied
Wow! People appreciate it when you acknowledge them, so try out some gratitude and you may be surprised at the conversations that start.
#3 Use trending topics
Trending topics are popular topics that people are already talking about. These are things people want to talk about, so jump into the conversation!
But remember, just because Donald Trump is trending does not make this a relevant topic for you. Make sure you find a way to relate your brand to the conversation.
#4 Start tagging
Encourage people to interact with you by tagging them. You know from your own experience if you get tagged in a post, you’ll “like” it. Chances are you’re also going to share it and comment on it.
People love to be noticed, so throw some love out and you’ll see it come back to you.
#5 Find your influencers and brand advocates
Brand advocates are the people that love your business, simply because you helped them (or you’re just completely awesome!).
Social media influencers are people that have an existing audience on social media, such as a mommy blogger. Getting these types of people to talk about your brand is when viral activity starts to happen.
Stat: Group High found that tapping into social media influencers can step up your engagement 16 times than paid media!
