Talmar Anderson of Talmar It Up is an operations and management consultant that works with business owners to bridge gaps in business education or experience. Talmar is passionate that business is NOT innate. It is learned and she is doing all she can to enable owners to find the answers they need to build and grow successful businesses! I met Talmar through a fantastic organization called Her Corner and was immediately struck by her passion and energy. Every day Talmar It Up helps business owners create action plans for success, so I asked Talmar to share some of the ways she uses the Internet for her own success.
How does the internet help your business?
Because I cannot physically be everywhere, I use my internet presence to “see and be seen”. I firmly believe that people must constantly be reminded what you do and how to find you. My digital presence lets people better understand what I do, how I can help them and allows me to further my commitment to help business owners find an easier way! Most of my clients hire me in person or over the phone HOWEVER easily 90% of them reference one or more of my digital campaigns in the getting to know you stage.
What’s your approach to social media?
With Talmar It Up, I am aware that my market is split between Linked In, Twitter AND Faceboook. I do not believe everyone should be on every platform. You need to know where your market is and mine IS on all 3! I have a different strategy for touching each forum in different ways but the real secret is C O N S I S T E N C Y. Do it! Do it now.
What’s your favorite digital marketing trick for Talmar It Up?
My business model is based on educating and making business growth and processes easier for my clients. My digital marketing trick is to use articles, ideas and processes from others! I forward links and comments from content I find every single week that I believe will help my target market. There is soooo much information on the different sites and throughout the internet. Because of this I am careful to really only push out pieces that will help answer questions for my contacts. This way I don’t have to reinvent the wheel (read: create talking points & content for every single post), it honors the contacts time by being relevant, AND I am now top of mind again for when they are ready to buy or refer! BOOM!
Any lessons learned on what NOT to do?
Stop trying to “figure it out”. YES, you could do it whatever “it” is for you. I promise someone can do “it” in an hour or two while you can teach yourself to suffer through it in 8 hours. Find someone to train you or better yet DO IT ALL. I do believe you need to understand “it” so you can manage whatever the new process or task is but let someone else perform it.
What’s the one thing about working online that you wish you’d found out sooner?
Contact and email management systems. Managing the look and consistent outreach with tools like Mailchimp and Constant Contact is a requirement. The information of who is opening when is amazing!
What’s the next big thing for you online?
Since you asked, well, I can tell you right?…I am building a podcast…talk about online tools! The podcast will allow me to deliver specific and detailed operations and management answers on how to feed your business so it can feed YOU. This will not only require new tools and systems but will require a revamping of my website and accessibility for clients. I expect to generate a new level of market outreach and client base growth. I am scheduled to launch in February 2015. If you’re looking for help creating specific action plans that are specific to your company, we can’t say enough good things about Talmar It Up.
